Diego Maradona paid a visit to Manchester United's training ground on Friday to present Rio Ferdinand with a signed shirt especially for his 30th birthday.

The new Argentina boss has flown to Europe to catch a glimpse of his star players including Liverpool's Javier Mascherano and United's Carlos Tevez in the flesh before he names his first squad.

It is not often that United's superstars are lost for words but that was the case when the man many people believe was the greatest ever to play the game paid a visit.

Ferdinand insists that the shirt was the best present he could have wished for and admitted Maradona was the one of the reasons he began playing football.

no not really marodonna was a exelent player watch some of his vidioes on youtube but u cant say that rio likes drugs i like marodonna and i belive that he was and still is the second best player ever to play footy and alot of people blamed him for the hand ball he did against england but it wasent his falt it was the refs falt and his asistant!

This shows if he has a player abroad he is willing to go get a flight and visit, unlike capello for beckham in LA, he sends someone and watches the game on TV lol

and no way Ali Karimi is the best Iranian of all time....Ali Daei is top international goal scorer in the whole world (yes! whole world, you read it right not Iran and not Asia..world) but maybe that's because he got to play all the easy country were as in Europe you have to cope with Brazil, Spain, Italy and Germany.

vs the little teams, they put 11 players behind the ball, and its harder to score.. thats why have you seen england play the minor teams, the key players like rooney + gerrard find it harder to score, so you have to praise daei for scoring vs the minor teams in asia..

only things he deserved was a Asian Cup trophy, but he was a champions league runners up with bayern munich in 1999.
